a post about nothing at all & midnight lipstick swatches

last night, after dinner & two episodes into television the mr. did this. 

doesn't he know that's my job? falling asleep midway through regularly scheduled programing is my responsibility. he's taking over my territory. quite boldly i might add. he had the nerve to do this before 8:00pm! rude. leaving me wide awake, with no hopes of sleep until the 1 o'clock hour. bored and lonely, i suddenly felt the urge to primp. the kind of pre teen teenage primping. you remember the type? where you pull every shimmery lipstick from the deep recesses of the bottom bathroom cabinet and lock your self in your room and try them on incessantly? 

 

it was just the kind of therapeutic activity i needed to make me feel young, and in some strange way, without responsibility. for 10 minutes i felt sixteen again and it was wonderful.

until she barged in and paced circles around me. her signal that, unless you, the human, move immediately, she will be moved to relieve herself on the flooring. 

i held out 5 minutes and ignored her. ya know, asserting my position as alfa dog. i say when we move around here. 

she huffed, sighed deeply & gave me that look. 

to which i offered this expression. bummed. teenage primping will have to wait for another sleepless night.
